Why do I make art?
Art has been the part of my life where I am able to express all the emotions, the joys, the fears the accomplishments.
"I do not know what I am doing. That is good in art. I Am doing something and that is what counts; there is movement, inquisitiveness, research, exploration; I am challenged by the old excited by the new. I love sculpture and words and photography, the sound of the ink pen on the paper; the music of the lithographic ink on the roller; pulling a dry point from the plate and the stage, the stage, I love the stage. I must speak.
Carpe Diem."

"Photography in my life/ My life in Photography
I was almost born in a photo studio. I grew up inside the Oleo Photo Studio in Mexico City, at the time it was the largest, most modern studio in Mexico. This is before color photography so we had an 11x14 studio camera and the darkroom was one of the largest rooms in the building divided into darkroom and dry retouching areas. My father, the famous "Goyito" was an accomplished landscape painter, turned photographer, turned photocolorist. He was the pupil of Luis Magos Anaya whose wife taught him how to color photographs with oil colors.
Oleo Photo occupied the whole second floor of the "Edificio San Jose" at the corners of Amsterdam and Sonora streets in the Hipodromo/Condesa art deco neighborhood in Mexico. At any time there were 10 to 13 Maestros working in the studio; coloring photographs.
I followed: I loved the darkroom, the mixing of hypo-sulfate and other chemicals, the smell of oil paints and the linseed oil and thinner of the coloring studio.
Photography has always been part of my life; except that from the beginning, even as a child, I have the tendency to lean more for the experimental, than the formal side of the art.
I studied photography with John Grady; obviously I did my hours at Oleo Photo having to turn professional, finished, work to the customers. There was one rule in the studio: "Why can a mistake when one can do it right the first time." Now, I work both with film and digital processes. I believe that each is a unique tool for creation; similar, almost, but never the same.
The idea of the new work continues to be the same as before. The expression of the self through a medium and to explore all the possibilities combining experimental and classical techniques."

Sculpture in my life/ My life in Sculpture
The day I stepped into Kinder Garden in Mexico City and they gave me "corcholata" (bottle cap) filled with "engrudo" (wheat paste) and some news paper and we made "animalitos" I knew I wanted to be a Sculptor. I loved the feeling of clay in my hands; the forms it could take the shadows and lights the three dimensionality; growing up in a photo studio I had been exposed to photography and painting always; but, the discovery of the three dimensional drove me wild.
My first and most loved Sculpture teacher was Victoria Garcia; she was small, but Tall as a sculptor; she was already famous and had many shows at the Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico; even before becoming the wife of...
